SCWCD or Zend Certified Engineer PHP

Hi Guys,

I'm a self taught programmer (SCJA) who is about to take on the SCJP exam next week, but now my question is... what to go for next? I taught myself programming and professional certifications mean probably more to me than others since i never did any IT-related university courses. Now i was wondering which study direction can give me better chances with finding a job (in the UK)? Combine my SCJP java skills with PHP and go for the ZEND certificate? Or shall i stick to Java and go for J2EE/JSP and the SCWCD certificate?

Any comments are much appreciated.

Its personnel choice. I would just like to share my experience. Small setup companies generally work with Perl-PHP-MySql for small projects on Linux plateform (of-course this is not a rule and just my experience). Large projects generally fit in for J2EE. Using J2EE for really small project is like killing a fly with a bazooka. As I said, personnel choice.

I say go ahead with SCWCD since your in a roll.

I'm thinking of getting the Zend PHP Certification myself since I am currently doing a lot of PHP development on the side.

Bottomline, it would depend on what your current focus in your line of work is.

The php5 certification also has less high-quality exam-centric study material.Personally,I think that php certification is more valued than SCWCD due to the fact that there are only slightly over 10 000 zend certified php programmers and roughly 5 times that for SCJP.(I checked in January sometime).The php 5 exam covers Web Services and a bit of SQL too if I'm not mistaken.

But,on the other hand an SCWCD implies an SCJP certificate.

Could someone who has got the SCWCD/php 5 certification throw some light on this?I'm curious myself to know how they weigh up against each other
