I appear for a few seconds in the trailer as "DATE 14" (18 seconds in). The female lead is my real-life girlfriend, Jacquie, who is also producing and co-writing. (And if our relationship survives this...)
The video was directed by Michael Nissen, shot and edited by Jason Ho, and produced by Kris Lange (who is also one of our writers, and appears in the trailer as "DATE 21" at 26 seconds in).

(On location at the Butcher Block Restaurant in Minneapolis, with Fred using a prop iBook to reflect light for Jaq's close-up. Fred plays Professor Pigg. He kills me! I wish we could have done audio with Ruth, Camille, and Carrie. They're hysterical! But at the time we shot this, we only had the leads cast, so the rest of us were filling in. In fact, the guy in the red hat is Joel from the band, Superman Curl, who does our music.)

Marc that is SO COOL!. I didn't know you were also an actor and a playwright. That just blows my mind. And what play is this? and where can we see it? I'm not gay or anything but DATE 14 was the COOLEST!!. I saw you had some lines in the trailer, what were you saying, I couldn't lip read so fast. Can you please tell us what you were saying?

Thanks!
We've been lucky to work with the right people, and that's really how all of this is coming together. One of our writers, Kris, is going out with the filmmaker, Michael. And the photographer, Jason, wanted to work with Michael, so... Basically, Kris cleared all the locations for shooting, and Michael and Jason handled everything on the video end. It was about 8 hours of shooting over 2 days, but everything went like clockwork (which it needed to, because we had very short time windows at some locations).

AND YOU ALSO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND???
Why does it surprise people I have a girlfriend? This production is a relationship strain. I'm directing her (in scenes that we've already fought over writing), but she's also producing, so... I pretty much defer to her. It's her story and her production, so my role is making her vision happen.
I am not an actor. I can do things within certain narrow parameters, and I can do some comedy characters (like the supporting roles here). But after working with real actors, I know I am not an actor.
There was no script for the trailer, and we didn't know what Michael really wanted to shoot until it happened. Basically, it was, "Here, put on this jacket and be the guy who talks too much." Since we weren't using sound, most of what I was saying didn't make sense -- I was actually going on about snakes (hemotoxins vs. neurotoxins, vipers living north of the Arctic Circle, how aggressive different species are...).
