Guys,

I just knew that there could be two kinds of links that one could create in Linux, the Hard link and the Symbolic link. What are the differences between the two? And what does an inode mean with respect to understanding links?

Here's one article and another that will give an overview.

That's probably more than enough for casual use. You may need more information if this is for a homework assignment, but since you have not said so, I assume that this is just for your own knowledge.

OK, Have you looked at the wikipedia article on i-nodes? It references the IBM article on anatomy of the Linux file system which is also a good read.

Take a look at them and see if that gives you an understanding, and if not, come back with more questions.
