OCR for PNG file

hello,

i am totally new to image processing and all that stuff..

have a png file with very clear digits that i need to extract into a regular string (see attachment for sample image).

so, the thing is, i have absolutely no clue where to start

thanks for your help.

Or http://www.abbyy.com/finereader_engine/ , which is commercial
I am testing it at the moment, because tesseract did not quite work out for my colored and poor resolution images. yours look better though
