I'm real proud of this one, thought I'd share: These are my parents at my Mom's Senior Prom, long, long ago. This took about 15 hours to do. It's 11x14". I used 2H, HB, 2B, 3B, and 8B graphite pencils on Strathmore medium-finish 80lb drawing paper. It's too big to fit in my scanner, so it's a photo rather than a scan; it's a shame because a scan would look better. I need to find some information on how professional artwork photographers to their lighting.

I don't know much about the art of pencil sketches, but I can imagine how well you have to plan it all in advance to get those that shine in the hair! Stunning! I wonder can something like this be achieved with Photoshop and a Wacom tablet?

There are indeed people in the art community I belong to who draw with a tablet. The work has a different character, but can be quite beautiful. For some reason most people who use a tablet seem to be fantasy artists and draw Dragons and Fairies and things like that. Personally, I like using physical materials -- it's a nice break. Good to get away from the computer once in a while!

Thanks Ernest, you are absolutely right, that is a definite bonus! The dragons and fairies, probably reflects the taste of target audience - after all, majority of the computer users are still relatively young.
