Hi,
I have worked with Weblogic Portal before, but it's been some time, I do not remember much and I quickly need to find some info.
We are making a proposal to a customer and have suggested Weblogic Portal.
I would like to give as much information about the technicalities of the CMS in Weblogic Portal as possible.

Could you please answer these questions ?

I am looking for information on the CMS that is integrated in Weblogic Portal 10.3
I have already checked the available information on the site :
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/cm/introCM.html#wp1067976
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/portlets/development.html

I would like to find more information, especially regarding these questions :
What are the portlets that are available by default in Weblogic Portal 10.3 ? I read about the Content Presenter portlets, which display real-time data.
Are there other portlets like these ?

How can i manage the documentation in the CMS ? I have several source of data (databases, Lotus repositories ...) : can i load them into the WLP Virtual Content Repository ?

What about images ? Do i need to work on a special format to handle them in my portlets ?
Is it possible to load data coming from XML files into the repository so i can display them on the portal ?

Thanks a lot for helping.

I think I can answer some of your questions.

How do you store images/documents/XML files?

WebLogic Portal has Virtual Content Repository (VCR) where in you can store your contents.

How to store content in VCR?

You first create content type then you create properties for content type. The properties store metadata as well as actual content file i.e. you have a property called creator of type string, another property called contentFile of type binary, now you can store any kind of file (image, word doc, pdf, video, XML etc) in binary property and any string in creator property.

How do you integrate 3rd party repository in VCR?

WebLogic Portal has provided an interface called SPI (Service Provider Interface). Some of the well known CMSes like Documentum, Interwoven etc has implemented this interface and they can be integrated to VCR. *Moreover you can also implement SPI if CMS provider hasn't implemented it, provided they are JSR 170 compliant*.

* Not very sure, you might want to confirm it.

You can also write custom code which retrieves data from your custom repository (DB etc) and loads it into VCR with BulkLoader API.

How do you render contents in portlets?

Content rendering API is one option you can look for.

Hope it helps.

Which CMS you want to connect to VCR?
