The first band I ever started (primary school!) was called "The Organized Confusion." Kinda liked that. In college we were called "The Autoerotics." I think one guitarist quit mainly because he couldn't live with the name.

Come to think of it, I've played in bands with some cool names. (Hmmm... Coincidence?)

Ear Damage
The Dead Spiders
Spontaneous Human Combustion (S. Human C.)
Atom-12
Plastic Slacks
Mrs. Kane and the Range

I failed to convince anyone else that "No Gritty Aftertaste" would be a cool name. Along the lines of The Autoerotics, our drummer once suggested we call ourselves Rock Hard.

With the last name being heard so often that you might forget that it is also a cool name.

Well I have to include the names of my band

Deere In Headlights
Horseshoes and Hand Grenades

Yes we have two different names, why, because we switch instruments, We have the standard lineup of instruments that we play and we are called Deere In Headlights, when we switch what we normally play we are called Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, because we are close to being our band, but not quite. And remember close only counts in Horseshoes and Hand Grenades.

If you are interested in watching any of our videos

Anyway back to the topic

favorite band names

Spock's Beard
It Bites
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Chiliwack (I mean what the heck does that mean anyway)

And if you want to just make one up

Thanks for the translation! (Kind of like Morcheeba, I guess.) I almost included Ryksopp on my list because it looks cool, but I didn't know what it meant. I love their Melody A.M. disc!

The coffee shop I go to had "Dev Java" listed on their event calendar last week. It turned out to be a musician.

Yeah, that's a great one! Although I have no idea what they sound like.

Thanks for the You Tube links! (Someone once told me my playing sounded like Alex Lifeson, but I hadn't really listened to Rush at that time, so I didn't know who that was.)

I was in a band called "Bursting Bubbles" 16 years ago. I played (and still play) guitar.

That's funny, because my very first band (around 1980) was "Eklypse."
