Hi, somebody can tell me if LifeRay is better than IBM WebSphere Portal. The company which i'm memeber wish get a portal to them but they have 2 option: LifeRay and IBM WebSphere Portal. We have a WebSphere Application Server 6.1. Functionality, is LifeRay better than WebSphere in cost, performance, facility of use, and so on.

I'd really look at the hardware and peripheral components as well, and see how deeply vested I was in IBM.

IBM WebSphere is a solid implementation, however, Liferay has a tendency to implement the latest standards in a more timely fashion.

so, do you think that IBM WebSphere is better than LifeRay? i've been test LifeRay and i think that i can to be useful to my company. it´s simple to use. We want a tool that to be easy to use, quick and run over WebSphere Application Server.

Please note that we do not want to invest a lot of silver.

Well, every product has its pros and cons. But it seems to me that given your criteria, Liferay may be a better fit to your organization than would be WebSphere Portal Server.

Why Liferay portal?

A rich, friendly, intuitive, and collaborative end user experience

A single point of access to all information

High adaptability to the demands of fast-changing market

Lowest cost, highest values

Liferay portal also provides the highest value at every level. Liferay portal is based
on 100% standards and a set of key technologies. The standards include AJAX and
JSON, hCalendar Micro-format and iCalendar, JSR-127 and JSR-314 (compliant JSF),
JSR-168 and JSR-286 (compliant portlet), JSR-170 (Content Repository API for CMS),
JSR-220 (Hibernate), OpenSearch, WebDAV, WSRP, and so on.

In a word, it is easy to use, quick and run over WebSphere Application Server and any other application servers.

Hi,

Liferay is a Open source. So,If need to customize thinngs in your own way.I will
recommend Liferay. But if you just to do follow standard approach you can use IBM
websphere.IBM comes with a lot of tools that speed development. But it also restrict
customizations. Also Liferay is free and IBM websphere is paid.

Just to clarify, JSR 220 is a JSR for EJB 3.0.
