HI ... I am a new member to this forum. I have a SCJP exam coupon with me with a validity period of 4 months. I have bought K&B scjp study guide. I am a BE graduate with little knowledge in java ( expecting to get a job within a months time) . My questions are

1. How much time is really required to write SCJP(if i could study 3 hours a day and 6 hours weekend)

2. Is starting the proceedings with SCJP K&B and then switching over to KHALID MOGUL a good idea ?

3. Last but not the least , How should i MOTIVATE myself or discipline myself to study each day ( to be honest ... I AM A HARDCORE GAMER )

Please answer all my questions ... THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL COMMUNITY

Have a friend hold all your games for the next 4 months, so you won't be tempted?

Gamer? (Assuming you are from India), it reminds me of my childhood days back in India. The only games those days were kabaddi, khokho, i spy you, sitlooliya !!!

On a serious note, if you login to this website and browse through the forums, you will have enough motivation. Try to participate in forums. But if you can not participate because of lack of time, just checking out here, will be more than enough of motivation. Speaking from my personal experience.

All the best

Hi karthik!

Try to get a Calendar and to program how much time you need to read the book....then you will have to adjust to this calendar. With your time, probably one month is more than enough. After that start doing mock exams and posting doubts here in the forum.

Regarding you game addiction , you could install an old graphic card in your computer or maybe remove some modules of ram. Doing that you will be able to use the computer to create small programs for the exam but not for playing games .

Cheers

The more you earn, the more games you can buy . (At least until you get married!)

All the best!
