Hi all, I have a piece of code that exports an object using SSL RMI socket factories if a secure flag is set. I am providing the location and password of the keystore on startup as a JVM parameter.
Basically everything works fine unless the JVM cannot find or access the keystore. In that case the server appears to start (my thread that starts the RMI server exists immediately after only leaving the RMI threads) but then the program exists silently almost exactly a minute later (I'm guessing some bind timeout). I can't find anything on Google and my next step would be to look at the Sun code if no one here has come across this.
It would be nice to trap this case.
I saw a similar topic posted a few years ago, but no answers were given.
Thanks for reading!

Noticed the silent fail happens immediately if the keystore can be found but no server certificate is present.
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
