Test if an error has been thrown

Hi there,

If an error is thrown (such as validation error) I'd like to do some things in the JSP.
I know I can use the tag h:messages to show up the errors message, however I'd like to do more.

I thought I could do some thing like this:

Is it possible? How can I test if an error has been thrown?

Thanks in advice.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
