Hi.
What cam be the maximum size of a file. Can i insert data in the for of a table just like its done in a database of yes please assist me.

That depends on the file system. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems#Limits
Your regular Windows installation probably has NTFS, possibly FAT32.

Actually the doubt is very confusing. Suppose i have 10 rows in a file just like this.

Now is it possible to select the data from the position of third column and fifth row. This rows are prsent in a text file.

If each row has the same size you can use RandomAccessFile. If not you'll have to read the file into memory, then write the modified contents back.
