If <c:set var="userlevel" scope="session">
Sherif,Bartender,Cowgirl
</c:set>

Now if userLevel does not exist in the session,then what is the datatype of the new created session attribute "userLevel" ? Will it be a String array?

Hi, Amarkirt. If we don't specify session, the default will be page. It will work like session.setAttribute("userLevel", "Sherif,Bartender,Cowgirl "). No string array.
