Welcome to JavaRanch.

Tapestry is a server-side framework, while JavaScript runs on the client. What is the connection between the two? In other words, what are you trying to do, and which problems are you running into? TellTheDetails

Hi,

I was surfing on web issues related to Javascript, and I found some new way of declaration.
var links = $('a.popUpSingle');

What is the purpose of $('a.popUpSingle').

It's not a declaration, it's a method call - the "$" is the name of the method. JavaScript libraries like jQuery and Prototype use it to reduce the amount of typing one has to do. In this case it probably means something like ' return all "A" tags of class "popUpSingle" '. To be sure, one would have to know which JS library is being used; then you could look it up in the documentation.

So there's no connection at all between your question and Tapestry?

HI Ulf Dittmer,

I was little confused over the convention.
Thank you so much for clearing the doubt.
