How to recover replaced files?

Hi All,


I accidently replaced an existing excel file on my desktop with new one. But i need the replaced file.

Is there any way to recover replaced file? suggestions will be of great help...

I assume you are talking about Windows? A typical "replace" actual creates a new file, deletes the old file, and then changes the directory listing to reference the new location. Thus any Windows undelete" utility should be able to recover the file, provided the disk sectors used by the replaced file have not been overwritten by other information.
