I don't think it is in the same competition. they are for completely different issues. Google Wave is a collaboration/email/chat like tool. Whereas Twitter is a get your status out quickly in only a few characters. and Facebook is a social network site.
Yeah, Google wave can never replace those public social network sites, but it can be used as a social network system, within our own group, like in Google Groups. I think that Google wave is another competitor for social networking, in that case, some how.
And TWave (Google wave + Twitter combination) seems to be a good approach!
No I am an Indian. Here it is very popular I can find almost every person profile in orkut that I know.
