hey ,
now i dont that dis is a stupid question or i am a stupid person , but il will ask it anyways . "how much time does one usually need to prepare for scjp ?" i know it will differ from person to person ,but i have just started and want to set a resonable target for myself. i have been programming in java for about an year now and am quite thorough with basic concepts.

hi,
If I am to quantify, it took me 2 months of Java coding(with book reading) + 3 years of some C/C++ experience, to clear the exam. 1-2 hrs daily is more than enough.
If you "have been programming in java for about an year now...", you should find most of the things in the book easier to grasp, so you might require less time.
Use the forum, ask questions, read other ppl's doubts... it helps a lot.
And once you think you've done enough (...and when you start getting good at mocks), take the exam.
I had set a target of a month for myself, but ended up using two I think 2 months would have been a more reasonable target for me (and quite sufficient too).
All the best for your preparation

Use this link.
Most of them are not updated as yet. For specific 6 content, you can use free ExamLab (one that I know has been updated).
I've heard that Whizlab and Enthuware (Links on the mock test page) are good, but haven't used them myself.
