How to validate a double value of length(6,2)

Hi
I have two fields in the DataBase name(postral tax, insurance tax) which are double of length (6,2).I want to validate it in my JSP.In short i nee to validate the double value which should not exceed more than(6,2) Length.Can anyone help me out.I am fairly new to javascript
