Wow - you took that!
I leave my fireworks pictures to the internet:
Out of curiosity where do places that don't have significant bodies of water launch their fireworks from? Or does Austin have water I'm not thinking of?

Yes, last evening during the festivities here in Austin.
Or does Austin have water I'm not thinking of?
The fireworks are fired over Lake Austin -- basically a widening of the Colorado river as it meanders through the center of town.
Austin is actually pretty renowned for its lakes and water sports. Right now, we're in an exceptional drought and the lake levels are at record lows. The lake-oriented businesses are hurting bad.

A publicity shot (I did not take this one) of downtown reflecting in Lake Ladybird.

We did things a little different this year. We didn't go to a city park to watch one show... We went to the top of a parking garage. Could literally see fireworks going off all around us, albeit close to the horizon. I am pretty sure we saw at least 6 cities' displays, plus many illegal "home grown" shows. All fireworks are illegal in St. Louis City and County unless you have a special permit, which is ONLY given to professionals. But that doesn't really stop everyone.

That's exactly where these photos were taken from! The parking garage for the office of my previous job. Has a great view of downtown too!
In many of the shots I took last night, you can see the down-town fireworks in the background.
One the best views is from my roof. I live on the top of a hill in a very tall house. It's a precarious perch, so we only did that one year -- but we saw maybe a dozen different shows that year.
