I am thinking of buying a car ...My budget is 6-10 lakhs..I have the following cars in my mind..

Honda City
Mahindra Logan
Ford Fiesta
Hyndai Accent
Chevrolet Optra

What do you think is the best value for money car and with good resale value..?Is there any other car that can be considered apart from the ones in the list...

Honda City has the best resale value and is quite a good petrol car. Ford fiesta (Diesel) is the best car overall and should give you good mileage as well, being a diesel; that's a big advantage.

You can consider SUV like Tavera or Scorpio in a similar budget, both are quie good. Tavera is overall good value for money whereas Scorpio scores on handling & class. Or if you can stretch it a bit, you can get Toyata Innova.

Why didn't you consider Hyundai Verna??
I found it good when i test drove it then i changed my plans of buying a new car all together
How about trying a Skoda? It will be a little over your budget but its a beauty!!!

Petrol: Honda City
Diesel: Ford Fiesta

Not sure about the current price of Skoda Octavia, but if affordable go for it. I would rate it higher than Toyota Corolla!

Nobody likes the new Tata cheap car? or is it still in the "be finished RSN" mode?

Since Jaguar and Land Rover are now owned by Tata as well, are they going to become popular?

The nano is probably going to be released near the end of the year. It is quite certain to contribute to more traffic jams but hey, you gotta admire the guts of a guy that decides to make a 1 lakh car. Ratan Tata's business skills are amazing but on the other hand this project puts a dent into the environment

The coin has two sides. I agree that it will increase the traffic and hence the pollution. But there are people who dream for their own car and just because of 'NANO' it will come true. And not to mention that now indian middle class is become economically stronger so they can afford better stuff.

I would prefer a bike over a car in Bangalore if its just for 2 people.
Negotiating the traffic is much easier on a bike . Off late with the metro rail work under progress , traffic has become extremely chaotic and jams are a commonplace . And getting stuck amidst a traffic jam in a car like a Skoda or a Honda City would be a very painful, frustrating experience. Cars in Bangalore,i believe, are only for the status conscious !

Absolutely. Bike is much more convenient and easier to handle in cities like Pune & Bangalore, congested with traffic. However, it is more convenient to travel in a car when you have loads of stuff to carry or when it is raining.

I still prefer smaller car in the traffic though!

True I agree...Bikes are convenient to zip through the traffic..But I think if you look at the crazy manner in which people drive on Bangalore roads I think cars are a more safer option.

I think it will be better than being on a bike in all this pollution, chaos and sometime in the hot sun. One can pull up the windows, put the a/c, good music and enjoi!

Not really, I would not think of travelling long distances on bike, especially in tough weather conditions. I prefer taking 20 minutes more in comfort than to get to some place early and worn out.

You probably would not do that with petrol prices going through the roof.....(Ignition needs to be on for the a/c)....I switch off the ignition at every oppurtunity......

You probably would never go out when you anticipate a rough weather...but when you encounter a rough weather when you are outside a car would be more useful, but that alone does not qualify as a reason enough for buying a car .

I love travelling and use my car (my dad's,i dont have a car ) only for short 2 or 3 days' tour . That is probably the best reason to buy a car...to take it on weekend tours
