Anybody playing Guitar Hero III ? I'm really tempted by the track list. I've never tried such a game and none of my friends have it. How hard is it ?

I have it and really have enjoyed it a lot! It's hard at first but practice really pays off.

GH III is by far the hardest of the series. I personally prefer the track list in the first one the most. The think i like LEAST about GH III are the boss battles, especially on the higher difficulty. Much of your success depends on which random power-up you get first. and when battling Lou, you play for 3 minutes and then get a worthless one, you're doomed.

Yeah, I'm actually stuck at Lou on Medium. Beat him on Easy, got all the way through the game on Medium, can't beat the final boss. Touch of arthritis.

Thanks for your comments. I've downloaded the demo(playing with the controller isn't a great experience ) and it looks impressive. But my wife's look was saying "you're not going to buy that plastic guitar, are you ?"

I have a PS2. At one point, I loaned my system, one guitar, GH, GH2, and the GH 80's expansion to a buddy. He bought GH III and a second guitar. To thank me, he gave me the game and second controller. Then, he bought a PS2 and all the GH games, plus two wireless controllers. THEN, he bought an XBOX 360, so he could THEN buy Rock Band. I apologized to him once for costing him so much money. He said "It has been worth every penny". BTW, he is married, no kids, and his wife plays, too!!!

I like GH but I think the drums on Rock Band are a ton more fun. I think the next version of GH is supposed to have drums that are slightly more realistic with a couple cymbal pads. I kinda wish they'd make a game to plug in a real midi electronic drum kit.

Guitar Hero World Tour (or GH IV) will indeed have a drum kit. There will be two elevated pads above to represent cymbols, and three drum pads lower.. plus the kick drum foot pedal. I've also heard there is another game coming out with six drum pads, plus the kick.

Anybody playing Guitar Hero III ?
Anybody playing it that also plays the real thing? I play a little guitar (keyboards are my forte) and have always thought it would be no comparison to the real thing. - Doug -- Nothing is impossible if I'mPossible

Wow, Knights of Cydonia is in the list. That one must be a killer.

I liked GH1 and GH2. GH3 didn't really appeal to me. The track list is so-so and the fingering is extremely repetitive and boring.

I finally bought it The game feels great. Played a bit yesterday night through the tutorial, and the Career mode (Easy and Medium). I couldn't beat the first boss in Medium because of too many blue buttons I think I'm struggling because I'm not using my pinkie yet. I will have to practice to use this finger too. Through all the songs I tried yesterday, I found Alice Cooper's "School's Out" really cool.
