facebook is itself sort of copied too. And not to mention another million sites which then copied facebook. Its a chain of plagiarists. I guess somebody will be copying this scrabble app too soon enough.

copywrite laws in the U.S. do not care if the defendant had any financial gain. the laws are to protect the rightful owner from LOSS. If Mattel (or whoever) can show that they lost money because of the blatant infringement, they're in trouble.
