If you happen to buy a new mobile phone, what feature would you look forward to?

I want it to be a better phone than my current Motorola Razr. Better sound to listen to, better clarity to the person I'm calling.

I want a phone that works.

I do not want a bunch of live video webcast cruft.

Sadly, everyone else wants, and the phone marketing folks, sell poor phones with great calculators, pagers, email readers, TV stations, etc.

Yes!

Of course, only the headset apparatus is pictured here. This plugs into a mobile base unit, which fits inside a large backpack (with a 5-foot aerial). The entire system weighs less than 55 pounds, and has a range of nearly 3 miles (under optimal conditions)!

Why does it used a non-standard four pin connector? Most telco stuff just uses tip and ring.

I prefer mobile phone which is good making receiving calls and can send sms

I have my sony camera, so i dont care if my phone cant take pictures or make video.
I have philips mp3 player, so dont bother if my phone cant play audio.

Surprisingly these days mobile phone ads look like

X.x Mega pixel camera
FM sterio
X GB memory card
Music player
And after this, if they have budget, they talk about mobile phone features also [ ]

Nothing is impossible; for those who doesnt have to do it themselves.

You left out Video Player. And GPS. Once you add them in, as they are critical for all phones, you will see that being able to receive or start telephone calls is not important, and since they have to have all this other stuff, they won't put a nickle into the phone part

Back in my day, we used Morse code, and it served us just fine.

Yeah, but those hollow logs you beat the code out on were a bitch weren't they?

In retrospect, yes. But at the time, we didn't know of anything different, so it seemed like a quick and easy way to transmit data.

I just hated the grubs and those icky centipedes that'd crawl all over you. I was so glad when we started using bongos.

Why carrying three gadgets when one is available with all good features?

And how come having these extra features make mobiles not good at making/receiving calls & SMS?

A "must have features" list would be when going for a new mobile:

1. Camera
2. MP3 Player
3. Bluetooth
4. FM

Of course with all basic features (outgoing, incoming, SMS etc).

The "Must Have features" for a phone by 2050 would be?

I must say...

1) Shouldn't weigh more than 5-6 grams,
2) No Camera,
3) No Viedo,
4) No Memory Card,
5) No Screen on the phone (Coz it weighs more).
....
....
...

Camera in mobile phones cannot compete with dedicated digital cameras, in terms of image processing. You cannot have a choice of lenses in mobile camera. The modes that a dedicated digicam can have, a mobile cannot have it. I never get satisfied with the shots taken by mobile camera.

I Do agree. Mobile will never compete with the Digi Cam or SLR.

Just like laptops and graphic cards, perfect mobiles are actually as elusive as mirages.

But then it would have too many features. The old rotary-dial phones never made popcorn. Why should we have popcorn now?

Enchiladas! If it can't make enchiladas, it's useless.

Because now we have 3000 free minutes per month, and people will talk for hours. You'll be starving while on the phone if it can't prepare food.

They didn't? But, every time I picked up mine, I heard this sound just like popcorn being made. I always thought that was because the people on the party line were making popcorn with their phone. Wasn't that it?
