At least opening ceremonies should have been shown live(and then a recorded one on the prime time)

I pity myself looking at the photos on espn.com and cursing nbc and who ever responsible for this.

They should hold most events in the middle of the night so that viewers can watch them on live television. Don't the Chinese realize that they live on the other side of the world?

What do you mean no coverage? No live network TV? Yeah, there is none of that. But there will be tons of live streaming over the tubes of the 'net.

TV networks don't really like live broadcasts. They like to be able to edit it and replace the boring stuff with up close and personal biosketches of pretty athletes.

Well in fact they do realize that. And that's why they changed the schedule of the swimming competition. Normally in swim meets you have heats in the morning and finals (for those who qualified) in the evening. But in Beijing you have heats in the evening and finals on the next day. Quite a few swimmers weren't happy with having to deviate from a model that was burned into their brain from years of competition.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
