Head First Java has been recommended to me and I'm going to try it out. Can anyone tell me if the 2nd edition (published in 2005) is the latest one, or is there a newer edition? I have Java 6 on my iMac. I'm just starting to learn Java (as a fun/intellectual exercise) and would like the latest book version.

Hi Christopher,

The 2005 version is the latest version. The differences between Java 5 and Java 6 are very small so you won't run into any problems using a Java 6 compiler when you use the book.

Good luck, and if you have any questions once you start the best place for those questions will be the beginner's forum. Lots of folks there are working thru the same book.
