Search Criteria - Must ??

Hi guys,

I did my essay exam today and in the last question about my search criteria I had the following doubt :

I implement the search but it search always in the location and name fields for the input text, The user can't specify if the search is by name or location, the system will always search in both fields.

Is that wrong ? Will I be eliminated or lost points ???

The assigment says:
It must allow the user to search the data for all records, or for records where the name and/or location fields exactly match values specified by the user.

I understand that the MUST is to allow user to search data for all or record where name and or location fields, so isnt specified that the user MUST be allowed to choose name or location, is my assumption right ???

Sorry for the errors, I'm improving my english. = )

Howdy, champion!

Indeed, there's a clear "must" requirement that says:

It must allow the user to search the data for all records, or for records where the name and/or location fields exactly match values specified by the user.

This means that the user must be able to search for (a) all records, (b) name AND location (that is, when both name and location match a particular criteria) and (c) name OR location (that is, when either name or location match a particular criteria). So, there must be 3 types of search, and you must allow the user to define which type of search he/she wants.

The user can't specify if the search is by name or location, the system will always search in both fields.

So it's like you always perform the "and" search, right? That is one of the ways the user must be able to search.

Well, now... let's pray and see what happens...
