request.getParameter() returns null

I am using GWT,
Usually we make async calls to the server.

But for one case, in our application, we are using a FormPanel with the action as a servlet at the server.

for those who do not know gwt,
the out HTML generated at the client is a Form Tag in HTML with the action specified as the servlet file at the server.

The form's Method is post.

Now, i recently introduced a Textbox at the client with some name specified and i am trying in vain to read its value at the server using the same name.

request.getParameter("name") gives null, AAMOF request.getParameterValues() too returns a null array.

I suspect this has something to do with spring...

Please Help
