I don't know, as far as I know it has never been tested. Maybe I should get it tested - suppose I get an accident and need a blood transfusion, it could save my life if the doctors would know what my blood group is.

I don't think you need to worry about it. First, if you are in an accident, you might not be able to tell them anyway. Second, they're gonna test you anyway, because giving the wrong type can do REALLY BAD THINGS. or they'll just give you O-, which is safe for everyone.

Ok, I might not be able to tell them, but if there would be a medical record somewhere that might be helpful. I have no idea how testing your blood type works. If it would be a process that takes time, and you would need blood fast because you're bleeding to death, that would be a problem.

Unless you are wearing a medicalert bracelet, I don't think hospital procedure allows them to believe you -- you'll probably be on plasma, and/or the universal donor until your blood is typed.

Last year, in prep for surgery, I had to get 5 vials of blood taken. I asked if one was for the type, or the CBC. The answer was yes. My response was that my type was o neg, and my last CBC was only a week ago, so they can save on two vials. The answer was, nope, procedure was for all five -- and two of the vials was for the type. It goes to two labs simultaneously -- so the blood can be typed, and cross checked.

Your kind has blood? How quaint. We've moved beyond the need for such a primitive oxygen delivery system.
