Spring webflow popup

Hello Ranchers.

I am having hard time in getting a specific functionality implemented in Spring Webflow. My knowledge on Webflow is limited and I started working with it recently.

I have a flow A. I would like to initiate flow B from A in another window (essentially a popup). Also while doing that I want to pass an object from A to B. Is this possible? I don't want to initiate B as a subflow to A. The reason for that is B is just a popup, and when we close B nothing should happen in A (no transition).

B is like an orphan flow, but initiated from A and flow B in no way should affect A.

Also B just has an end-state. So pretty initiating B would be rendering an end-state. I am unable to get the "passing of data" to B from A part of this.

Any help, suggestions, greatly appreaciated.

Thanks in advance!

=Marco.

Couldn't you just send that data as GET variables to the new flow?

No, I need to pass an object. Is there a way?

I guess you can store the object in session scope and have the web flow pick it up from there.

Use flash or conversation scope?

It will not be available across multiple flows.

Care to give examples on flash scope? (I know that if we assume that conversation scope ends only when top level flow does, I still cant figure out why original poster doesn't call the pop-up as a sub-flow of this thing ... would make more sense to me), anyways, Spring source documentation says it clears off on every view render ... not very clear

Actually, I'm wondering what is the use of flash scope. I guess it similar to flow scope except that variables in this scope will be cleared on every view render. Still, I don't know what that does exactly mean.

OK, did a little bit of digging, found a useful URL (documentation wasn't really clear):
Scopes

I'll try somethings over the weekend to find out, I'll ask or post my findings here, thanks for your time!

Trilochan.

Hello Guys!

I will continue this topic as I am in the same problem Marco Reuel and so far have not got a way to do this.

I'm using JSF with SWF 2.3

Someone who has managed to pass an object from one screen to the conditions that Marco Reuel cited using Spring Web Flow and can help me?

Thank you!
Leonardo Terrao.
