I'm looking for an open source stock control system built using Java. I've been approached to build something by a client, but I'm a great believer of not re-inventing the wheel. So if I can get away with extending an existing system I'd be extremely happy.
I did a quick google, but I couldn't find any java based stock control systems, although i did find a few that were php based. I'd pefer java because that is my core competancy, but if I really have to I'll do it in php. Its becoming a common theme now, that whenever I look for a system to extend in java, I always find exactly what I'm looking for in php. Maybe its a sign of the times, but it seems to me that usage and development of new and innovative applications has really slowed down for java. I'm considering piling more of my resources into php.
I know this isn't what the post is about, but just briefly I'd like to hear what others thoughts are on this issue. Of course as well as some suggestions on stock control systems :P.
