What is the worst movie you have ever seen?(worst would be hard to decide,so in your opinion which one is the most overrated one?)
Oceans 12! Incredible bad movie. Rented it from the video store and it was one of the few movies I started fast forwarding at the end, and then finally not even waiting for it to end. How in earth's name this movie got those good credits from other people I am mystified.
I don't look at movies a lot, but one movie that I found really good was Das Leben der Anderen. It's about eastern Germany in the time before the wall fell, and an officer of the secret police that's spying on some writers and artists. Slowly, his life starts to change as he gets more and more emotionally involved, without the writers knowing about him.
Most over-rated movies:
Pretty much anything by Krzysztof Kieslowski (except the excellent "Three Colors: Blue"), and absoutely anything by Lars von Trier. Also "Sideways" and anything by Neil LaBute. And "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", one of the only movies I've seen that was so bad I walked out of the cinema before my brain melted with tedium.
Favourite movies:
Too many to list here, but most of Martin Scorsese's films, Nicolas Roeg's "Don't Look Now" (the most profoundly chilling movie I ever saw), most films by the Cohen brothers (especially "Fargo", "The Big Lebowski" and "Raising Arizona"), lots of Hitchcock (e.g. The Birds, North By Northwest), "The Usual Suspects", "Heat", "Lost in Translation", "Dog Day Afternoon", "Little Miss Sunshine"...
Favourite actors:
Today it might be Al Pacino and Holly Hunter, tomorrow it might be somebody else, depending which films I've seen recently.
Oh, and here's another recommendation for "The Lives of Others" (Das Leben der Anderen).
