Hi there Ranchers!

Good news...Today I passed SCJP exam! I got 86% and I am very happy and proud of myself (I think I could have gotten more, but I passed and I prefer to think 'passing is passing' and scores are just a matter of vanity). After 3 months of really good and tiring study sessions I finally accomplished this important professional goal. I really want to thank the following people:

- Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates for such a wonderful book they wrote (SCJP 6 Study Guide). I read it twice and it really made me more comfortable with my Java knowledge (I wonder if someone can feel 100% confident facing such a tricky topics contained in this exam). I think this book is perfect for self-training purposes instead of attending daily courses (everyone learns in different ways, though)

- Devaka Cooray for such a great testing software he made (ExamLab 6). I think no one should take the real exam without giving this useful tool a try...And overall, thanks for make it a freeware and available for all of us, this software has been really really useful. Results in this exam encouraged instead of disappointing me. I learned a lot of things from the feedback given by the end of each exam I did. All in all, a worthwhile software...

- All JavaRanch community, I have not made many topics but I read many topics created by people with advanced knowledge (by the way, some of these topics were sometimes scary because sometimes they discussed really abstract stuff and tricky possible questions they found or came up with ) This is a really great site...

Today I realized that the important thing about getting certified is not passing the exam, but the study process and the knowledge you are earning in the road. If you do an effort you will become comfortable with the stuff the exam contains.

By now, I will rest a couple of days (because my thoughts are a little mixed up) and I will try to help ranchers to understand things I have already gone through (as you guys have helped me) and I will keep studying about this stuff because I don't want to lose any knowledge I have earned, but increase them...

Regards

Congrats

You've earned a well deserved rest

Have you given any thought to any open source projects you want to test your knowledge/cert with?
OR are you already in the field and applying your knowledge?

-Fritz

Hi Fritz Guerilus...

Thanks for the congrats...

I am currently working as a software developer at a company...but I would like to get involved on many other projects (open source projects as well) in order to have some more practice. Do you have any information about projects where I can get involved??

Regards

Thanks Nitish and Deepak for the congrats...

Nitish, I think you will do it better than me, since I read some posts you created and I think you have really strong knowledge...just be confident and remember, as we discussed yesterday here, be really careful about the little code issues on tricky questions...I think I missed a couple of questions because of those.

Anyway, the best luck for you on Friday...

Regards

The passing score on my score sheet was 65% and there were 72 questions to be solved in 210 min in my exam...I don't know why, I expected 60 questions and 58% as it is said on Sun site, but anyway...
