Hi everyone,

After seeing quite a few requests about people asking about SCJP 5 Vs 6 and the additional topics covered, I thought I would go ahead and write some articles to bridge some gaps. I have expanded that idea a little more and decided to host a site. I am posting the links to the articles here. I hope you find them useful

Java.io.console
NavigableSet
SCJP Pitfalls

The site also hosts an online exam simulator, but it is undergoing enhancements based on beta tester feedback. I will try to bring that back up soon. Have fun learning

If you have any feedback do let me know.

Sorry about bumping this semi zombie.

I added a thread tutorial today with some common scenarios and examples. -> http://www.certpal.com/blogs/2009/10/java-thread-tutorial/

And also, the online exam simulator for SCJP 1.5 / 1.6 is now open for a more liberal internal beta. Any one preparing for SCJP will now have one more free test to sample before they take the final exam. You can register / login here -> http://www.certpal.com/ExamWeb/content/logon.do

If you have any questions please feel free to post here. If you find a bug (eep ! that would be embarrassing ) let me know and I will squash it as soon as I can.

Have fun learning

Hi,

I tried the first part about declarations and I think the following answers are incorrect :

Question 1: I chose none of the above but the answer is supposed to be interface members are public static final by default (members can mean variables or methods)
Question 7: it prints out 0 NullPointerException not the other way round.

and in the part about Fundementals:
which lines will compile in java 5 and above but not 1.4?

answers are 2,3,4,5
I understand 3 and 5 involve boxing and unboxing
and 4 because assertions were introduced in java 5
but why is 2 a right answer ??? it returns a Wrapper and is assigned to an Integer object.

Hi Ali,

Thanks for trying out the system.

Question 1: I chose none of the above but the answer is supposed to be interface members are public static final by default (members can mean variables or methods)

mmm... I meant member variables. Will change that sometime.

Question 7: it prints out 0 NullPointerException not the other way round.

i points to null and is accessed first and eye is a zero length array. Ran this on my machine and the following output was produced.

but why is 2 a right answer ??? it returns a Wrapper and is assigned to an Integer object.

You are right. I meant to do an unbox to an int but placed an Integer there instead.

I have made the corrections based on your feedback. Thanks for bringing them out. Good luck
