Yes! Be very aware that everything you write in a public domain with your name under it can at one time be read by your boss or colleges. Now when you say things you might say in your group of friends, family it does not stand there for public. I have called my boss something like 'a wanker' on many occasions to my daughter and I am still working happily. Sometimes you say these things in frustration. Do not say them on line!! Also not in javaranch!

Ummm Marc.
I hope you do realize that posts on the ranch do show up as search results. Maybe you want to edit your post?

Well why did you think I wrote 'something like a wanker', which does not mean I call my boss a wanker, just something simular but more diplomatic. I diplomatically call, my ex boss, not the present one, a not so nice person, sometimes in private.

No really I already díd edit the post that way it could do not thát much harm, knowing it can be read!!

Ooops.

Ah yes, well that is also to confuse I can say that it's not me. "It's almóst my name mister boss but no that must be somebody else!"

Seriously I have adapted my name a little so I can always escape this way. Sorry Javaranch, I know we should use our own names here but.....no, I do not trust it.

Yes, but if you use a fake name, let alone have two different accounts, and then publicly tell us that, then what do you think happens next.

1) I ask you which of your two accounts do you want to keep. I am going to close the other one.
2) Please change your display name to meet the JavaRanch Naming Policy of using your real first and last names. Not complying with this requirement is cause for suspending your account.

And yes, I am being a Wanker. ;)

Thanks

Ok then delete them both, but including all my postings please! The above clearly shows that it can be dangerous use your own name on line, so no I never use my real full correctly spelled own name. If you suspend me, ok, that's your policy. Both names are close enough Í think, but not 100% correct. (I just used a second when I lost the other but I found it again.) It would be a shame, but better then getting in the position like the guy above who lost his job for writing something his boss did not like on line. Yeah well sorry to go then! I do not use my full ID on line, that is then my policy (and yes it is after bad experiences, not just to annoy you or something).

Did you leave a photocopy of your ID when you registered here? If you had not used more than one account no one could ever dare your real name.

Interesting topic, most interesting posts

if you actually read the naming policy, you'll see you don't have to use your actual, real name. You just have to use one that could be real, and then not advertise it's fake. It's that latter part that got you in trouble. So, just pick one that's 'real', and we'll lock the other one. No big deal.

Exactly. I am only going to suspend one of your accounts Marc, and then all you need to do to the other, is change your display name to a real looking name and not tell anyone that it isn't your real name. But don't try to use any name that looks fake. And yes it is our policy here, and it isn't that we don't appreciate you being here, it is called setting precedence, and if we let you squeek by, then everyone else has the right to complain that they got caught and you didn't.

So, please let me know which of the two you want suspends, and then just simply change the other one. No big deal.
