I've got some
JSP pages and Beans using Bear's FrontMan code, and I'm having some problems getting my bean/java/jsp code structured properly to make it easy to use EL to access variables.
Assume I have two
Java classes and one jsp "view" page.
The command dispatch code goes to
public class DoComplexExpensiveThing;
which when its done, wants to make all sorts of variables, values, lists, etc. available to the
showthing.jsp (jsp page) which is connected to the
public class ShowThingBean;
I could just put all the results into the session, but that feels wasteful, since only one view will need the values, and if the user wants to see them again, we will want to do all the expensive actions in DoComplexExpensiveThing over, so the values can be considered stale after a few minutes.
So I want to just go to the showthing.jsp, pull the values from ShowThingBean and be happy.
I'm not seeing a clean way to pass the giant wad-o-values from DoComplexExpensiveThing to ShowThingBean so they are available to the EL within showthing.jsp
Ideas? Hints?
patterns?
Thanks
