IntelliJ -- Updating Modified File

I'm using IntelliJ 8.1.3 for Mac OSX. So far I've liked it, but for the past few days it is constantly going into an Updating Modified Files cycle. This process puts a modal dialog up over edit window, so I just have to wait the 20 or 30 seconds it takes. Not that big a deal, but it sometimes it will happen every time the window gets focus. What's going on?
