I am asking this question just for curiosity that where I can find the DTD for the web.xml that I write with my jee application.

I am using tomcat 5.5.

I'm not sure if tomcat 5.5 uses servlet 2.3 or 2.4. In any case, the 2.3 DTD is here and the 2.4 XSD (XML Schema) is here...

Tomcat 5.5 can serve either of 2.3 or 2.4 web applications depending upon how that deployment descriptor is declared.

With Tomcat 5.5, new applications should be declared as 2.4.
