SCEA 1 : which mock software to buy ? Whizlab ? Epractize ? Other ?

Hi,
I would like to buy some mock software to train and know better what to expect for the SCEA exam, part 1.

What do you suggest ?

At the moment I have 2 choices :
Whizlabs : $99.95
Epractize : $40.5

Whizlabs is quite expensive, it's more than twice the price of Epractize.

1) What did you use to prepare ? Is there another choice ?
2) Which one offers the mock exams that are the closest to the real exam ?
3) Which one offers the most accurate answers and which ones gives the most details ?

Thanks for your advices.

I purchases whizlabs.
Pro:
difficult. If you pass whizlabs you will probably pass the real exam.
The product it had fairly decent explanations in answer section. with reference URL's
Con:
the answer section is not selectable, so you cannot copy URLs that are in the answer section. I became so frustrated with having to write down the URL on a piece of paper then type it in a browser window.

Based on the con side of whizlabs. I posted a frustrated complaint in this forum.
Enthuware responded that thier product would allow me click the URL and it would launch a browser to that location.

I am looking at part 2 and 3 of e practice lab. I am not overly happy with it , but no one else makes something for part 2 and 3

yeah, Whizlab is my favourite choice at the moment.
It is expensive though.

I would like some feedback from someone who got ePractize. Is it good ?

Does ePractize make a special offer if we buy the 3 parts ? Since Whizlab does not cover part 2 and part 3.

Thanks.

I just bought Whizlab mock exams for SCEA.

I am surprised to see that it is not a software to download but Mock Tests to pass online only.
There is an offline mode but it still requires to be online to start and finish them.

Also, something I find extremely weird :

Attempts allowed: 3

We pay 99.95 dollars for a limited number of attempts at the mock exams ?
That does not sound right to me.

I am not used to that kind of deal with Whizlabs, I am very surprised.

I used ePractize for scea step 1, i think that the exams of ePractize could be more difficult, sometimes you really think that you can easily pass on the Sun's exam, but is not truth i made the Sun's exam and it was harder than ePractize exam, however i got passed. I don't know if I were unlucky taking a harder exam than ePractize exams, but the most important is that i got it . I suggest you not study by ePratize exam, but reading articles or books about java ee.

I did not recall reading anyone that recommended SUN's practice exams. I still do not see a mention of SUN.

I have purchased several of sun's practice exams. I have found that if I am scoring 90% on sun's practice exam, gives me a 50/50 chance of passing the actual exam. I keep hoping for more from SUN

I have also found there were some areas not on whizlabs exams that I only discovered by taking sun's exam.

There must be some cross site scripting hijack. Whizlabs is a product and you download it and install it. from http://www.whizlabs.com

There is no software to download.

If i want to use the offline version, they ask me to download and install Google Gears.

I emailed Whizlabs, I am waiting for an answer.

If someone has used Whizlabs SCEA before, please let me know how it worked.
This is very strange.

I had a similar surprise when I got a copy of the whizlabs exam.

I MUCH preferred the old format

I like to use one (or two) practise exams as I go along a certification just to check my learning - not possible with the new format (unless this can be done via Google gears - and I can use this on my work laptop!)

I have emailed Whizlabs but have not had a reply. I would like them to offer their old style PC application.

Anyone know when they switch over to this customer unfriendly version?

It seems Whizlabs is no longer making a downloadable version of its software.
It is now browser-based only.

Check this link, it is about SCJP but it also applies to SCEA :
http://whizlabs.blogspot.com/2009/07/run-mock-exams-online-or-offline-on.html

That would be fine if there were no limited number attempts of passing the mock exams (3).

I cannot believe I paid 99.95 dollars for a limited number of attempts to pass the mock exams.

I have contacted Whizlabs, they have not answered me yet.

Has anyone had this unpleasant surprise too ?

I am pondering asking Whizlabs for a rebate and then getting the ePractize practise exams that are still a PC application

I am also thinking about doing that. I want my money back if they no longer offer a downloadable software for the mock exams and if they do not change that limited number of attempts policy.

Yea, I started a new thread on the change of format. It certainly caught me out.

I wonder IF whizlabs did any customer feasibility about this - I suspect not

Dear users after having read all the posts Whizlabs appreciates the inconvenience the limited 3 attempts caused in the usage of the mock tests hence the limitation of three attempts have been removed from all Whizlabs mock exams. Enjoy unlimited attempts in using the mock exams for 1 full year from the date of purchase.

Hi,
I feel perfect preparation of all concepts in the syllabus + any mock Exam simulater for getting exam Mode is the right way.
some people used WhizLabs and there success stories we listened. some people used EPracticed and also we listened there
success stories.
Here the thing is only perfect preparation leads to certification clearence not the Mock Exam Simulaters. The simulaters are only for getting Exam
Mode of Objective type, not for clearence of Certification. According to spending capability or Simulater company's favourtisem leads for
selection in the choice of Simulaters.

Thanks,
Prathap.
