Can anyone please explain to me what Jade is? Not what is stands for, what it is used for.

JADE was renamed in SOFIA. Very interesting project requiring a determined system requirement.

This seems to be a different JADE framework from the IBM EAD4J JADE framework which is a part of a suite of frameworks including TOPAZ, SAPPHIRE and others named after precious stones. Alas, there is very little information on the IBM JADE framework as it is mostly kept inside their consulting practice. We're using their JADE framework and we're not even allowed to view their source files...
