Entity and Persistence Context Association

The entity with the states 'Removed' and 'Managed' are associated with a transaction-scoped persistence context. A new entity won't be having persistence identify
and hence it won't be associated with a persistence context, a detached entity as its name reveals, just got detached (or disassociated) from the persistence context.

What does the term 'association' means here. Please explain.

Thanks
