Earlier I was directly logged into the intranet/portal using IE6 (on XP professional). But since I installed IE 8, and then uninstalled it, and re-installed IE 6, I am being prompted for user name and password everytime I open IE.
I checked the Tools--> Internet Options-->Security and Trusted Sites-->Custom level, scrolled all the way down,
I have a selection for "Automatic logon with current username and password"
Even in the advanced tab I have a check for "Enable Integrated Windows Authentication (required restart)"
Can anybody please help me fix this.

When i deleted the user by going to control panel--> user accounts-->Advanced tab--> "Manage Passwords" button, everything was working fine.
