In a Brazilian Forum(JavaFree.org)we use TwitterFeed(http://twitterfeed.com/).

You can use it to twit the news threads(That are in your rss/atom feed) automaticaly in twitter!!

That wouldn't work for JavaRanch. We have maybe 100 new topics a days - nobody is going to follow that on Twitter. That's what the RSS feeds are for.

It's true... But if have a resume about the posts in each forum (JavaFX, Java...), it would be good!

Example: "Hot Theads About Java Today"

But is only a Sugestion!

What would that contain that's not available now in the "Recent Topics" feed or the forum-specific feeds?

Forum-especific feeds!

Even you don't having so many followers, you can generate content about a determined issue.

Example on twitter:

PeopleX: ... #javafx

CodeRanchJavaFX: What's the advantages from #JavaFX against #Flash Lite? bit....(URL)

PeopleY: ... #javafx

So you can reach the target people about some technology!!!

The problem that you will need moderate some topics...

Let me rephrase that: What benefit would a forum-specific Twitter feed have over a forum-specific RSS feed (which exists)?

I think that have these benefits about have a forum-especific Twitter feed:

- New users to CodeRanch:

- I know a specific Thing(java...)!

- I know Twitter, but I don't know CodeRach.

- I read about my specific thing in twitter that led me to Code Ranch!

- I stand in twitter, but i'm not reading my specific feed from code ranch! So I can keep me informed on Twitter, without quit from Twitter!

- I can send to my friends on twitter the issue without quit from Twitter!

- "RT" is a powerful way to get more people to your issue!

Right now, I think coderanch only use twitter for the book promotion announcements.

William,
I'd like to point out that all the moderators on this site are volunteering. What you are suggesting sounds time consuming. I know some companies have an employee dedicated to marketing them in social media. We don't have that here.

You are certainly welcome to tweet about interesting JavaRanch topics under your id, tag them with @coderanch and link here.

It would be possible to publish new posts to Twitter automatically, but I don't see the value in that over dedicated RSS feeds. It just doesn't feel like the right medium (it's hard to summarize a topic in 140 characters manually, much less automatically).

Plus, it's already possible to publish individual topics to Twitter manually by clicking the button.

Yes, I know, I'm a volunteering moderator on a Java Forum in portuguese(about 40 messages per day).

I use RSS too! It was a sugestion, cause Twitter have the mission of inform what's happening on world NOW!

Thanks for all the responses!
