How much do you believe in Karma?

Here is an example... Last year, I had some (pretty bad) medical issues. My mother-in-law made me soup. A *lot* of soup. The chinese get-well healthy chi kind of soup. And my wife is *not* allowed to have any.

Anyway, most of it went to the fridge. Some went to the freezer, because it won't fit. Every night, for dinner, I heated some soup, move some from the freezer to the fridge, and had soup. This took many weeks.

This week, I noticed that there was a couple soup still left in the freezer. Over a year old !! Am I throwing it out? No... It is getting defrosted, and I am drinking it.

If you were me, would you drink it? Would you take a chance with Karma? ...

Does that mean soup doesn't go bad over time?

Are you concerned about that that your MIL prepared it with love and now you are thinking to throw it away. If the soup isn't in healthy condition then even she can understand that. You're not hurting her feelings. +1 to Karma rating.

So, the question is ... take a chance on food poisoning? or take a chance at bad karma?

Not a bad point of view. I was more thinking... Soup was for the medical problem. Don't drink soup, Karma will bring back the medical problem.

If the soup has been frozen the whole time at proper freezer temps, go ahead and drink the soup.

From where do you come to this conclusion? I think you didn't understand the word Karm(Sanskrit pronunciation) properly(Don't take it otherwise) or You want the discussion to be meaningless or trolling.

Karma?
Whose karma?
your karma?
soup's Karma?
Francis's?

Unless you've been a really really bad boy I think you can go ahead and drink it. Look at this way, if you haven't been a bad person and you still get an upset stomach, you will know that its not you who has bad karma rather its your stomach(guts, intestines) who must've been a real jerks in their past lives. Compartmentalize and isolate. This is what we learn in s/w.

Interestingly, when I think of the line, "I'll kill you", I don't think of the movie Stripes... I think of this (warning: may be considered offensive) ...

No Way, you can say (warning: maybe considered not hilarious), the way the eyes of that puppet were moving was damn good.

PS: Francis, I don't like anyone touching my "Stuff" (If you know what I mean )

(Wow, I'm a creative genius, that stuff joke was a really bad one)...

How does karama is related with soup.
The question itself is really meaningless.

Absolutely not and I do not believe in karma.

Food goes bad over time, even if it has been in the freezer all the time.

How log this this get well soup was supposed to take to heal your upset stomach? I feel, the moment your stomach returned back to normal, you can do away with the soup, as it has solved its purpose. And Karma and all will be out of soup(scope). And if you still drink it (and get ill, hence pay fat check to doctor) your doctor will thank himself for his own good 'Karma'.

Does it even have to do with karma ? Karma is 'I did something bad, it ll come back and bite me later'.

I think the soup thing has to do with superstition, which is different from karma, although karma might be a special case of a superstition.

Should you drink the soup ? Please don't. Its probably gone bad by now. If you do drink it let us know if you survived. It might be a great idea for a startup - 'Henry wong frozen soups'

That word has been added to the English language as you can see here.

As far as the soup goes, I think its in Henry's stomach by now (and even digested) and he still seems to be posting on the SCJP forum, so he survived ...

[And before I could post, Henry shows up which proves that he has not only survived, but is quick too so in perfect health ]
