open source contributors wanted

Hi all, this is not a paid job, but I wasn't sure what the right forum was for this post.

Basically I am looking for contributors for a project that has already been developed a lot, but is very open-ended and has unlimited scope for expansion. It is called WebOfContacts and consists of a benchmark web application which is implemented over and over again in different frameworks.

Reasons you might be interested in contributing:

  • You have a favourite framework and want to show how good it is with a sample implementation
  • You would like to expand your skills in enterprise Java, learn best practices, and get advice from another experienced developer
  • You are, like me, actively seeking through experiment an answer to the question: what are the best frameworks out there?

  • You've got to be willing to write clean code and document your work.

If you're interested, email me jamesc AT

I'm an experience programmer, but a newbie to Java. I need to get some experience under my belt with Java, the framework and using it. I hear working on open source projects isa good way to get experience. I would prefer a paid position where I could cut my teeth. Until then I'm going to do something.

P.S. The job shop I'm in doesn't use java and doesn't have much web work.

Girls just want to have fun.

Welcome to JavaRanch Sheila Deskins, and good luck with the job search. Probably a good idea to get experience with open-source work; even if you are unpaid, you can still put it down as experience on your CV or resume.
