Hi Will,

So Pentaho uses iText behind the scene. And it's similar to Crystal Reports. What is the basic building blocks for creating reports in Pentaho, same as crystal reports ?

That is correct, as a report designer, you build up report, page, group, and detail bands that make up the report. Each band contains report elements such as labels, images and fields. The output of the report can be rendered in many different formats, and the report can render from many different data sources such as JDBC and XML.
