Authentication with Struts

Hi.. I'm using Struts as my application framework and I'm deploying in JBoss. I'm trying to integrate some authentication/authorization to this. I know that I can specify role access information in the struts-config.xml file, but I have no idea where to perform the actual authentication, and where to assign the roles. I think I can configure JBoss to do this, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?
Thanks! ~Hrithik
