Today I cleared SpringSource Certified Spring Professional, my score is 80%.
I don't know the passing score, as it doesn't appear in the score report, the score report doesn't show score breakdown.

I prepared using the following materials:
- The Spring Framework - Reference Documentation version 2.5.6
- Spring Web Services - Reference Documentation version 1.5.8
- Spring Security - Reference Documentation version 2.0.x
- Getting Started with Java Management Extensions (JMX) article
- Sample questions of Spring 2.5 certification from SpringSource
- Fritz Duchardt's Spring Certification Mock

Many thanks to JavaRanch for it's a great certification resources, I know about the Spring certification from here.
And many thanks to Fritz, your document is very useful.

Congratulations...

Have you gone through an official Spring training? Is it possible to do that exam without attending their training program?

Many thanks. I did not attend the Core Spring training course. There are two ways to become eligible to take the exam, one way is to attend the training course, another way which I chose is to provide evidence that I have experience in using Spring Framework or have contribution to Spring Framework which SpringSource calls the latter group "grandfathered candidates".

You can start one now . You can also contribute to Spring Framework by posting in web forums, report issues to Spring bugs report system and/or implement patches.

Did you find any commercial mock exams apart from the one that you have mentioned here?

The Spring reference documentation seems to be vast and the topics mentioned in the objectives seem to be lesser than the content available in the Spring reference docs. Do you have a chart or some kind of a selected chapter index out of the Spring reference docs that match exactly with the exam objectives?

I don't have. But you can map the exam objectives to the reference documentations yourself, it's quite straightforward.

Yes, but it is understood that all the topics that are mentioned in the reference documentation are not part of the exam syllabus. Am I right?

Right. The reference implementations are quite detailed. But it's good if you can read them all .

I'am reading them all, but I have a very big time constraint. So just wanted to focus on specific exam topics. Could you also tell me if any books like spring in Action or Spring Recipes would be an alternative approach?

I didn't read any books while I was preparing. So I couldn't recommend any books.

Congratulations! I believe you need 80% to pass.

You can see the certification details and some study recommendations here: http://www.springsource.com/training/certification/springprofessional

Also, the Core Spring course guide can be used as a study reference.

Just got a mail from SpringSource that I have to fill out some information in the word document that they had sent me so that they can send me a voucher. Is there any timeline on the voucher expiry?

Just visit the SpringSource website and contact them via email and ask them for a certification request.

Jothi,
When are you planning to take up the test? I started preparing according to [http://www.springsource.com/files/uploads/all/pdf_files/page/cert_study_topics2.pdf]. If you are ready then we can split up the topics, and minimize the time for preparation.

As per my understanding the question that they ask are not related to the API. Can you provide some guidelines on the type of questions that they ask?

Are questions 2 - 3 lines or do they have a detailed code/spring configuration and multiple questions related to the code?

Certain topics that are covered in the spring course but are not specified in 'Suggested topics'
- spring batch
- contract first web service desing
- spring integration with struts
- Task Scheduling with Spring
- Using JavaConfig to create the spring application context rather that using XML.

Are these included in the exam?

Hi Vivek,
You can check sample questions on SpringSource website. You can focus on the exam objectives.

Hi shareeef hiasat,

Early this year, Pivotal has released a study guide for the Pivotal Certified Spring Professional (Spring 4.x) exam.

It is currently at http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/plan.cfm?plan=31110&ui=www_cert. Under the 'Spring Professional' tab, click on 'Certification Study Guide' inside the 'Resources' box. You may be asked to login to Vmware MyLearn to get the document (registration is free).
