Experience with SCJD submission

Hi,

Just a heads up, I trusted Sun too much and submitted my assignment Sept16 (passed the essay exam on the same day) without emailing them to verify that all was good.

I only emailed suncert@prometric.com last week and guess what? They only submitted the assignment to the assessor on Oct27th and now they're asking me to wait another 4-6 weeks!!!

This is unacceptable, we're paying over 600$ for this certification and Sun can't even provide decent service.

So my advice to you is email them the day you passed the essay exam to ensure that they submitted the assignment to the assessor. Bug them until you get a reply.

Hi Guillaume,

Seems last few weeks Sun's service regarding this certification is unacceptable (certainly in regard with the amount of money you have to pay), because a lot of complaints. I send the same day when I took my essay exam an email to who2contact to verify if everything was ok (and got my result exactly 4 weeks after taking the essay exam). So I think (reading all these stories of people having to wait more than 6 weeks) it's a must to send a similar email after you took the essay exam.

Maybe you can complain against Sun for their unacceptable service and you might get some compensation (like the guy in this thread).

Kind regards,
Roel

Guillaume,

I've uploaded my assignment on 11th of September, taken the essay on 15th of September. I waited until 5th week of the grading (since I trusted them 100% until then) and then I emailed them to verify that everything is ok. I didn't got any answer for three days. I emailed again with the same content. One week later I got a reply signed by Eric Broice (Support administrator) explaining that there was a problem with the prometric system which caused a three week delay since they couldn't access the assignments. The weird part comes now, they informed me that my assignment was received and send to an accessor on 17th of September (2 days after essay exam), how is it possible that they had a three week delay since they allready had my assignment sent to the accessor??? I emailed again in order to clarify to me what he was trying to explain and to let me know if it interfered with the grading process or not. Now i'm going towards the 8th week of the grading process and still I don't have an answer and of course no results.. I've sent out today an email again expressing my dissadisfaction and I told them that i have paid 535 EURO for the vouchers and that their services are unacceptable. I also told them that it is unacceptable to wait for so long when their is always the case that someone could have failed the assignment, wait over 8 weeks to receive a fail? I've sent the email to local sun representatives and addressed the problem and copied the email to who2contact, no more than 5 minutes I've pressed sent i got a reply and they assured me that they have forwarded the message to Eric Boice and to Database Support to their email addresses and not to the who2contact email. If by Wensday i still don't have an answer or results I will keep sending email all day long.

I'm really frustated with all of this..At the moment i'm preparing fro SCBCD and it really affects me in a bad way and i can't concentrate.

Regards,
Nicolas

Hi ranchers,

Same experience as Nicolas. It seems to be a rather old problem: I submitted my assignment on Sept 1th and took the exam on the 4th. The assignment, according to who2contact was delivered to the assessor on Sept 11th (1 week after the exam). So I'm waiting for more than 2 months

It seem that we have hang on, guys.

Regards,
Stefan

Stefan,

Personally i don't think that there is any problem...It's just an excuse for the unreasonable delay. I've contacted prometric to verify the problem and so far i don't have any answer. It's not an excuse from Sun to receive email like "I've been ill that's why i delayed on answering" (YEAH I RECEIVED IT TODAY) it's like telling them sorry but my dog ate the choices.txt and that is why i did not submit it. Honestly i'm furius and i don't know what else to do.

Hello guys,

This thread scared me a lot!
I uploaded my assignment solution, took the essay exam on Sept 25 (which is exactly 6 weeks ago). On October 8th I decided to write an email to assure myself that they matched essay exam and assignment. On Oct 9th I received reply stating that everything is OK, and stuff was matched and sent to accessor on Sept 28th (which is next working day after Sept 25th). Everything seemed to be fine, but still - it's 6 weeks already and no results at all!
Like you said - we're paying A LOT of money and we should be given the service we deserve.

I check everyday the results page and nothing new - only the SCJP results there. My account on cert page says NOTHING about ongoin SCJD certification, it says only that I've been "enrolled", that's it! Neither "Certification Progress" nor "Certificate Requests - In process" says anythinh about my SCJD!

I don't know if I should wait a bit more (1 day, 1 week, 1 month?) ot maybe I should contact someone?
What do you think?

Thanks.

Jarek

btw. I wrote a simple python script to check the results page for my SCJD results every 5 minutes If anyone is interested just let me know.

Jarek,

In the certification database under history there should a record like this which indicates when it was sent to the assessor.

Sep 17, 2009 Sep 15, 2009 Exam (310-027) Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 Platform (310-027) - Taken

As you can see mine was matched and the grading started on 17 Sep and still no results..
Honestly I don't know what to say any more.. Personally I regretted that I paid 535 EURO to receive such kind of service.. With that kind of money i could have bought vouchers for SCBCD, SCWCD and SCDJWS through whizlabs and we all know that J2EE is far more popular in the industry..

Nicolas,

thanks for help. I do have such an entry in my history:

By the way, some time ago I had a plan to pass a SCEA some day, but as we know SCEA is some kind similar to SCJD - it also do have an assignment and essay exam. Right now I think it's not worth the money, the effort and the customer service level you get.

Best regards,

Jarek.

Jarek,

I believe on their value on the industry as certificates but as you said at least expect a level service. What makes me furius is that there is always the chance of having failed and if that is the case i don't really see any point of why waiting. I got an email and they ensured me that my results will be out by Thursday.. Let's see.. Are they going to precise to that? By then it will be 9 weeks in total

Please keep us up to date if/when you receive something. Meanwhile I keep my finger crossed.
