A Hint at Times is good?

I am going to make the presupposition that not every one is familiar with Matrix Mathematics, Set Theory or Combinitronics. And if perchance I am wrong, then I am the only one.
I am struggling with the Times assignment; the placement of the column of zeros and the row of zeros in the desired output is downright mischievious. I have tried several models with simple and complex arrays as well as just looping each row individually (which I suspicion is not at all desirable).
I am not yet registered in the CattleRanch curricullum (still waiting for arrival of the suggested text) But, is it kosher to ask for a hint?
As Daniel Boone once said when asked if he had ever been lost: "nope, but I was powerful bewildered once for three days."
TIA

Have you checked past posts in this forum? There may be something there. You can also use the Google search. Personally speaking, I used all of Matrix Mathematics, Set Theory or Combinitronics in my first attempt, but the nitpicker, after seeing my first attempt, slowly guided me back to the "right" way.

Yeah, I have left a track or two. I think I am beginning to get it. I do have one question though: if one should create a fatal embrace how do you stop it? I'm not quite sure yet what I did but my processor went to 100% while no output being processed In some other languages and IDE's ctrl + break worked but not in the console.
TIA

Control-c should work in the console. You may have to press the combo more than once, because the processor is so busy it doesn't have time to "hear" your key press.

It is the nine times table you are computing?
Hint: If you are a "real" programmer, that is any one who has programmed in Fortran, Cobol, RPG then you may have used some printer layout forms in the past. Squared paper can also function as a substitute. Then, using a pencil, you can write carefully in the squares the desired output. This sometimes give an idea on how to solve the problem. Remeber that printers print across the page before going to the next line.

The 1/4x1/4 paper did the trick alright. I used three loops - one nested with this output:

I still don't have the text align perfect yet.
Thanks

Have you noticed the links on many of the assignment pages?

Yes indeed. The results above are from attemping to change the suggested align method from left align to right align. I will tinker with that next.
Most of my coding experience is with VB / VBA within an Excel and Access context, so some of these concepts are new (though they should not have been )to me.
I will be forwarding my payment to campus today. I am sure JavaRanch.CattleDrive will give a whole different meaning to campus wildlife than with my first college freshman experience 35 years ago :eek
Thanks

Ok. I just discovered there is a big difference in how things line up in the output window of a simple text editor (SciTE) and in the console. Lets see if it will line up in this window like it does in the console.

Make sure you use a fixed width font like Courier.
