Fedup with routine support

Hi all,

I am currently working with an MNC for the past 3.5 years. But now i feel really very bored as i am into support work.

As onsite opportunities also seem impossible now, i am scared this may spell doom for my technical career as i am not able to learn

Though in my current project, they have used the latest technologies like Spring,Hibenate etc.. i am unable to learn them as most of

the time we end up looing into issues, alerts etc. and updating documents.

I am also afraid whether i will be able to manage if i get any development opportunites in future

Can you please advise me as to how i can improve my technical / development skills ?

I have over 5+ years of experience in JAVA/J2EE technologies.

So if i go for a job change, expectations on my would be simply very high.

Please advise me.

Get involved with open source projects or do ones of your own. There are so many problems out there that are yet to be solved by a program.

You will not always get the learning opportunity you are looking for. Its great to hear you are bored and want to learn. Join a project and contribute something. Or look for freelancing offers. Participate in websites like top coder. There are so many options.

PS: A so called on shore opportunity usually has nothing to do with technology. People use that just to make more money and gather client requirements. In your case the opportunity may be different, but I am highlighting the general scenario.
